PACEP’s Advocacy is Designed to Achieve Results
Like the federal government, Pennsylvania’s state government is politically divided. The Republicans have a solid majority in the state Senate, the Democrats have a slim majority in the House of Representatives, and the chief executive is Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro. The pathway to success lies in working with both parties to achieve positive results.
PACEP’s advocacy is designed to follow the Harrisburg numerical adage of 102-26-1. To enact legislation, you need 102 House members, 26 senators, and one governor to approve an initiative. We are developing close working relationships with both sides of the political aisle in order to advance issues that are important to our members.
PACEP also understands the numerical converse is true. To block legislation we oppose, we must deny others the opportunity to gain 102-26-1. Again, we pursue our defensive issues in the same bipartisan manner we follow for offensive initiatives.
PACEP’s understanding of the legislative process and our bipartisan approach ensures that PACEP remains the Voice of Emergency Physicians.
